Luxury resorts for dogs! Why?
There are people who treat their pets better than their human Family members. I think that alone is borderline. But if the four-legged friend is sent on a luxury holiday, I'm definitely out.
It's early morning in the office. After a refreshing coffee, it's time to do some research. I need to know what's going on in the world. In addition to reddit and online newspapers, I also take a look at Pinterest. And that's where I realise what will reach new heights in 2020: the pampering of pets. More specifically, luxury holidays for your four-legged friend! The online platform has already recorded an increase of 261 per cent for the search term "pet resort". As if cat fashion, farm-to-table dog food and entire playgrounds weren't enough, pets now also have to stay in hotels that make the Dolder Grand look pale in comparison.
Chanel bed linen for the dog of the world
Now you may have read my article on animals in bed and be one of those people who want to attribute a lack of understanding towards animal love to me. Far from it, our dog was great, God rest her soul. I appreciated her company and her talent for keeping secrets. But there are limits somewhere. For me, they may come a little earlier than for other animal lovers. But Dior jumpers, blueberry facials and walks on a treadmill should be the limit for everyone. The Luxe Pet Hotels in Las Vegas even advertises that your four-legged friend can sleep on a memory foam mattress covered in the finest Chanel bed linen. WHY?
What's wrong with walks in the woods, beautiful animal fur and sleeping on normal dog cushions or - watch out - even the floor? Even with that, enough attention and good food, your dog will feel good. Probably more than in a splendid bunker that has nothing in common with the wolf's natural habitat. Even I don't feel really comfortable there. For this reason, and because I consider it unnecessary in many cases, I never treat myself to such luxurious outings. This kind of love of animals and the resulting humanisation definitely goes too far.
Instead of thinking about how we can completely pamper our animals, we should rather think about overbreeding. The health problems of a pug that suffers from shortness of breath due to its artificially depressed nose are not improved by a facial.
