Laura’s Likes: 10 used pieces I’d snag

Being a self-proclaimed fan of secondhand fashion, I like to browse through our «Buy secondhand» section. Here are my current ten favourite pieces.

Surprise, surprise – I love fashion. This includes shopping for it. For many years now, vintage and secondhand stores have been my go-to.

Fashion lingo: what’s the difference between vintage and secondhand?

It is, of course, a much more sustainable way to shop and doesn’t tempt me to fall for fast fashion. I also like the character pieces that have already been worn often have – and the peace of mind that I’m not likely to run into anyone wearing the exact same thing.

Time for a little confession: before I started working at Galaxus in March of this year, I had no idea that it included a Marketplace for used goods. There are three categories:

«As good as new + tested: Products with minor defects to the packaging»,
«Used + tested: Products with minor defects in appearance, functionality or to the packaging», and
«Used: Products provided by a private supplier». Here’s how it works: «Orders from Switzerland are processed via Digitec Galaxus AG; orders from Europe are processed via Galaxus Deutschland GmbH. But the sales contract is concluded between the buyer and the supplier.»

In addition, there’s a detailed description for each product, including details on the condition, functionality, packaging and warranty. If you’re like my past, March self, you’re probably wondering where you can find all these used items. Here you go:

On the homepage, scroll down a bit – that’s where, in the left menu bar, you’ll find my top secret favourite category.

Keep your eyes open and be fast

Of course, you won’t find any worn-out sneakers or tattered jeans at Galaxus – just pieces that already have gathered a bit of life experience and aren’t absolutely flawless. As far as I’m concerned, this isn’t a deal breaker. After all, clothes and accessories quickly show signs of wear anyway with normal use.

Don’t want to put something that’s had a previous owner directly on your skin? To each their own. But here are a total of ten used jackets, bags, shoes and other finds that are way too good not to at least give them a glance.

Finally, here are two small warnings – or rather insider tips:

  1. The used items are individual pieces that are only available in one size and can quickly sell out. So, if you find the perfect imperfect piece, you should strike quickly.
  2. If the unused item is in stock, the shop will (unfortunately) direct you there first. So, double-check that you really put the right product into your shopping cart.

Happy secondhand shopping!
