Jewels under the Christmas tree – rugs, blankets and mats
A stylish rug will make your Christmas tree look even more beautiful. Here’s how to use rugs to make your interior cosy and stylish.
Christmas trees play the leading role in the Advent season. However, I’ve seen too many that were placed in a corner and looked somewhat lost. Want to put your Christmas tree on a pedestal (without having to do so literally)? Combine it with a rug and it’s sure to turn heads. Let’s take a look at some options. In addition to staging your tree, soft Christmas tree floor decor is also more comfortable for you to sit on than hard wooden floor. And it protects the flooring from the falling pine needles or scratches.
It needn’t always be a rug – blankets or mats can also do the job. Make sure they’re round or square – and beautiful, of course.
1. Quilted
These three patchwork-effect blankets will cut a fine figure on the wall or on the floor. They’re colourful without being too flashy and feature geometric shapes that are just right for framing your Christmas tree.
2. Crocheted and woven
Crocheted or woven rugs are very decorative – even monochrome ones – as their surface shows a beautiful and varied structure. Perfect to give your Christmas tree a great finishing touch.
3. Visual
Christmas motifs are precious. However, once the festive period is over, you probably don’t really want to see them again until the next year. Seasonal motifs such as nuts, leaves and pine cones are more neutral and great for the Christmas season as well as winter in general. And they go well with your Christmas tree.

4. Hanging
Tassels or pompons on carpets make your Christmas tree look even more luxurious. They may also take the shapes of the Christmas balls and multiply them, creating a pretty, unified look.
5. Simply elegant
If you prefer no-frill designs, these options might be for you. They’re either single-coloured or feature a soft pattern that’s added by coloured wool balls, punched holes or a delicate edge of lace. Combine your tree with one of these rugs and it’s guaranteed to be the centre of attention.
