Five fashion brands I think we should add to our range
by Stephanie Vinzens
He’s an actor, jazz pianist, catwalk model – and 42 years older than me. Nevertheless, I’d like to rummage through Jeff Goldblum’s wardrobe and steal a few of his outfits.
I don’t know when I’d ever be faced with such a decision, but if one day I had to swap wardrobes with an older gentleman, I’d have no hesitation in choosing Jeff Goldblum. He’s a Hollywood legend and, in my opinion, the best-dressed man in his late sixties.
The 69-year-old has half a century of acting experience, which, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), consists of 139 roles including in classic films such as «The Fly» and «Jurassic Park». He also plays the piano – really well. Jeff Goldblum and The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra is the name of his jazz band. And as of the beginning of the year, the father of two can now also call himself a Prada model. He was given the honour of showcasing the final look on the Autumn/Winter 2022 menswear collection catwalk.
Hollywood star, jazz pianist and catwalk model? No wonder people affectionately call him a zaddy too. It’s slang for a dad who is not only attractive but also has that certain something. For Goldblum, that means a lot of talent, charisma and even more style. So much in fact that I, as a 27-year-old woman, would like to emulate him. Credit should also be paid to his stylist Andrew T. Vottero, who is responsible for most of the looks.
Here are seven outfits I would steal from Goldblum’s wardrobe first.
There’s virtually no garment as timeless as a well-fitting trench coat – and this one fits like a dream. Definitely inspiration for my next coat purchase.
A colourful, shorts two-piece combined with checkerboard slip-on Vans and white socks – it sounds like an outfit that wouldn’t be acceptable beyond the millennial age bracket. But Goldblum proves that the look is even cooler on people in their sixties.
Soft light green is my favourite colour – and when it shimmers too, I’m blown away. I also think the 70s pattern on the roll neck of the white long-sleeved jumper underneath is super sophisticated. A dream combination!
I tend to find mixing prints a bit too chaotic, but I think Goldblum’s subtle version here is great. The eye-catching black and white floral pattern of the shirt is in blissful harmony with the zebra print shoes.
At Prada’s latest menswear show, Goldblum was seen in the front row instead of on the catwalk – but he still stole the show, according to The Guardian. He told the assembled media: «I love wearing these clothes. They’re my favourites!» I feel you, Jeff. This ultra-bleached denim two-piece would definitely be one of my faves too. The cropped trousers paired with socks and chunky, square lace-up shoes freshen up the look even more.
I’m always up for a good leather look. This one proves that a biker jacket with slim suit trousers and a shirt can not only look badass, but smart too.
Pretty much everything about this photo is cool. The wild Prada shirt, the aviator glasses, the jewellery. Even Goldblum’s hand position. So it’s no wonder that a fan wanted to know via «Dazed» how he manages to make everything look so great. I make a mental note of his response: «Well, it has something more to do with your inner life. Things look right – if not fabulous – if you’re in one of three states of internal navigation: acceptance, enjoyment, or enthusiasm.»
Has endless love for shoulder pads, Stratocasters and sashimi, but a limited tolerance for bad impressions of her Eastern Swiss dialect.
