I got my best organisers from the sweets department

There are several empty containers of Ferrero Rocher in my bathroom. How come? Read on to find out.

I’ve spent a small fortune on transparent storage systems made of acryl glass. It’s just a shame they were never as handy as I’d hoped. Either the elements didn’t fit into my drawers and shelves like Tetris (as I’d planned) or the prefabricated compartments didn’t offer enough space for my bulky beauty products. At the end of the day, all those acrylic containers were a waste of money. Especially considering I got my best storage boxes for next to nothing – and filled with a sweet chocolate surprise, too.

I might’ve bought and emptied this container of chocolates on one day – all in preparation for this article, of course.

Upcycling at its best

Anyone who knows me knows I love Ferrero Rocher. That’s why I keep getting them as a gift. I also treat myself to these lovely nutty chocolates every now and then. Yet in my opinion, far too little attention is paid to their packaging: the slim plastic box is transparent, lightweight, unbranded and even has a lid. And as luck would have it, it fits perfectly in my mirror cabinet.

I have several of them in my bathroom cabinet. Eye lenses, tampons, dental floss sticks, sanitary towels, nail clippers, hair clips and more – everything fits in these handy chocolate boxes. They have a good size, can be stacked, are simple and allow you to see exactly what’s in them. On top of this, you’ve given a second life to something that would usually be thrown away.

I’m not saying you should go and get yourself a box of chocolates. But next time you get Ferrero Rocher, remember to keep the container.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
