How to decorate with shells

The more urban you live, the greater your longing for nature? Then you're like me. I satisfy it by decorating my home with shells.

At the moment, I have the feeling that the interior sector is teeming with shells. Either it's because I haven't been to the seaside for a long time and therefore notice them everywhere. Or shells really are the new trend motif for designers. As a child, I used to hold shells to my ear to hear the sound of the sea. Now I've dug them out of a box again to bring nature into my home. I'm obviously not alone in this.

After pineapples, flamingos, monstera and cacti, the pretty shells of sea creatures have now become a motif for accessories and textiles. They appear in the form of vases or rugs. At Milan Design Week, I even learnt that real shells are being recycled. The beautifully shaped shells can be used to refine furniture and create unique murals:

How you too can bring the living trend and a piece of the sea into your home is shown here.

Together with flowers or other accessories

With fresh and dried flowers in vases and plant pots, you can create a double dose of nature. They harmonise with other accessories in a group or stand out as soloists.

On the wall or on the shelf

If you already have enough accessories, you can decorate with two-dimensional shells. They look more abstract on the wall as a picture or on wallpaper. As an illustration, shells are less kitschy and look particularly good in the living room.

On the floor

Carpets in the shape of shells are a real eye-catcher. They are suitable for children's rooms, where there can't be enough playful details. They also make a nice change in the entrance area. Unlike most standard rectangular rugs, a shell rug creates a surprise at the front door.
