horgenglarus – the interior label of the hour

Paris – New York? No: horgenglarus. The Swiss brand that’s just won a design prize in Milano is now also available with us.

This year’s winner of Salone del Mobile Milano wasn’t a trendy label such as Vitra but a traditional Swiss chair and table manufacturer: horgenglarus. With their interactive installation «Giants with Dwarf», the Swiss brand caused a bit of a sensation at the main station of the fashion metropole. The Swiss architect and designer Stephan Hürlemann is the creative mind behind this installation, which consists of seven animal figures. Hürlemann and his team assembled the figures, up to three metres tall, from table and chair parts from the Glarus-based manufacturer’s parts archive.[[image:14168573 "The movable furniture animals...",14168572 "... attracted attention in Milano. This parts archive isn’t a coincidence; as the oldest Swiss chair and table manufacturer, horgenglarus looks back at a company history of almost 140 years. The company name is based on both the former (Horgen) and the current headquarters. Their creations are still produced to this day, classics including the height-adjustable «ess.tee.tisch», a table that be transformed from a coffee table to a dining table within seconds, and the «Classic» chair, the prototype of restaurant chairs. When I’m not exploring the depths of the sea as an open water diver, I enjoy plunging into the world of fashion. On the streets of Paris, Milan and New York is where I keep my eyes peeled for the latest trends. And I’ll show you how to take them from the catwalk to your everyday life.
