Hand blender tested: the best for under 100 francs
Autumn is soup time. A pumpkin cream soup will keep you warm and tasty. But if the hand blender fails and leaves chunks in the soup pot instead of cream, the autumn magic is gone. I'll show you the best hand blenders in our range.
"Saldo" and "Kassensturz" put ten hand blenders through their paces in everyday use. How well can they prepare soups? Can they make a creamy mayonnaise and can they even chop nuts? The appliances were divided into two groups: Hand blenders with accessories and without accessories. All four appliances rated as "good" coped with all tasks. Only the Braun blender had problems with chopping nuts.
Do I really need a hand blender?
Many hand blenders come with everything: kneading attachment, whisk and hand blender. What's more, hand blenders are generally cheaper, but are also less able to handle hard foods. If you cook a lot of soup or want to make smoothies, then a hand blender is worthwhile. I always used a hand blender before I bought my hand blender. However, I found the clunky thing too cumbersome to assemble and use. Now I only need it for kneading. Whisking cream and egg whites until frothy, making mayonnaise and pureeing soups is now done by the hand blender.
The heat is on!
What the "Saldo" test also showed and what you have known for a long time anyway with common sense: Hand blenders can overheat if they run for too long at a time. To be on the safe side, you should therefore puree your soup for about 20 seconds at a time and then give the blender a short break. In continuous operation, even the test winners will eventually give up the ghost.
All hand blenders with a "good" rating

The Philips appliance is rated good across the board. Only whipping cream and handling received a score below 5. Conclusion: clear test winner.
The soup master: A straight 6 for pureeing, but an unsatisfactory grade for chopping nuts.
Kenwood performs particularly well with smoothies and does not have an unsatisfactory rating in the tested disciplines. Only the handling is unsatisfactory.
The Bosch hand blender also achieved an even 6 when pureeing soups and did not fall short in any discipline. It is the cheapest hand blender with a "good" rating.
An overview of the rating

When I flew the family nest over 15 years ago, I suddenly had to cook for myself. But it wasn’t long until this necessity became a virtue. Today, rattling those pots and pans is a fundamental part of my life. I’m a true foodie and devour everything from junk food to star-awarded cuisine. Literally. I eat way too fast.
