The adventure begins - we play "The Legend of Zelda" (1986) live in the stream
by Domagoj Belancic
"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" will be released on 12 May for the Nintendo Switch. In anticipation of the open-world epic, we play the very first "Zelda" game live in the stream. Watch it live!
"Zelda" fans have had to wait six long years for a sequel to "Breath of the Wild". We've almost made it. We are just a few days away from the release of "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom".
To shorten the remaining time until the release, we are travelling back to the roots of the franchise. More specifically, back to 1986, when the first "The Legend of Zelda" game for the Famicom was released in Japan.
Phil and I plunge into the pixel adventure and rescue Princess Zelda from Ganon's clutches. We're playing through "The Legend of Zelda" in a total of four livestreams. We need your help.
The streams will be broadcast live on Twitch and Youtube.
According to howlongtobeat.com, the average playtime for "The Legend of Zelda" is eight hours. We try to keep to or beat this time. We start a timer for the first stream. We play through two hours in each livestream.
Compared to modern games, Link's first adventure is quite difficult and cryptic. Phil and I never played the original all the way through. To minimise the frustration caused by unnecessary game-over screens, we play the game with the "Nintendo Switch Online" subscription and make use of the Rewind feature.
We are allowed to cheat a maximum of four times per stream and look up a walkthrough. We accept tips from the chat on an ongoing basis. Help us save Princess Zelda!
"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" will be released on 12 May for the Nintendo Switch. We will also be organising a livestream for the launch and playing through the first few hours of the game with you.

My love of video games was unleashed at the tender age of five by the original Gameboy. Over the years, it's grown in leaps and bounds.
