Five original ideas for decorating your walls

Whatever the room, the walls of your home deserve to be decorated. The only thing you can't do is leave them bare. I'd like to introduce you to some trendy objects from our Galaxus range that will enhance your decor.

At home, the walls of all the rooms feature decorations: a mirror, a porcelain figurine or a humble collection of photos. To avoid leaving walls white or painting them, I alternate between two- and three-dimensional decorations. Like in an art gallery, I choose surfaces that correspond to the size of the object so that it is sublimated. With my space slowly reaching its limits, I'll soon have to look for another way to dress the walls, with jewellery from our range for example.

Ceramics

I'm coming across ceramic items at the moment, whether it's crockery or other decorative items to hang. I recently decided to ride this trend seen in the Czech capital - renowned for its glassware and ceramics - and at the Paris furniture fair. Do you love ceramics? Then why not hang your favourite plates on the wall to create a set? The mix of elements, as seen in the photo below, will breathe new style into your interior. Ludic

On the walls, textile elements - objects that perfectly replace the usual frames - provide a warm touch and reduce noise. There are carpets with character ranging from the figurative to the abstract. The most interesting are those with fringes for their playful edge.

Global

Designers are getting extravagant by bringing globes back into fashion; these come in the form of rugs or triptychs and play with wood or even metal. Some mappemondes are covered in a golden film that can be scratched off as you visit different destinations.

Lighting

Any occasion is a good one to play with light. Tables, chests of drawers and floors are enhanced by wall lights, which I particularly like for their aesthetic appeal and the warm atmosphere they create. A little tip for parents: in the children's bedroom, they serve as decoration and dispel bad dreams.

Self-adhesive

As well as ceramics and wall-to-wall rugs, there are also what are known as tattoos or wall stickers, which allow you to create any pattern you like. For example, you can play with geometry, assemble to create a design or use existing motifs such as Moroccan earthenware tiles for the trompe l'oeil effect.
