Favourite of the week: Bag from Filson

I scroll through our fashion range every day. To give you a small but nice overview, I'm going to introduce you to a product that I like every week. Today: a weekender.

I'm a fan of beautiful things. But I make an exception for certain everyday items. Take socks, for example, where I don't really care what they look like - as long as I can hide them in my winter boots. I'm not picky when it comes to luggage either. I take the first thing I can fish out of my cellar compartment. And I don't have a nice weekender either. After all, my sports bag will do. So good, in fact, that I once took it with me to a five-star hotel. I can still remember the amused look on the porter's face when he took it from me and placed it next to the numerous Louis Vuitton and Rimowa suitcases. I wanted to sink into the ground and swore to myself at that moment that I had to get myself a classy travel bag, one like the "Rugged Twill Duffle Bag" from Filson.

Not made of sugar

Appearances are deceptive: this beauty is anything but a mimosa. The weekender is made from a multi-layered rugged twill. This is a tear-resistant cotton that is lightly waxed to protect it from moisture and abrasion. The robust material of this duffle bag is no coincidence, as the American brand was founded in 1897, during the Klondike Gold Rush. Its aim was to equip gold miners with hard-wearing clothing and luggage for their endeavours.

Although I have not yet been able to put its durability through its paces for a weekend, I have been able to test its volume. I'm surprised at what fits into the travel bag. With its size, which is designed to meet airline requirements, the weekender is also suitable as hand luggage on aeroplanes. Its shoulder handle can be adjusted according to body size and removed if necessary. Despite the large volume of 43 litres, I recommend that you don't overfill the bag, because you still need to be able to carry it. But you'll look good doing it.
