Fake lashes: natural or dramatic?

Fake lashes, or falsies, are incredibly versatile. Depending on their shape, length and fullness, they can sometimes even be part of everyday wear. But most of the time they’re used for more glamorous looks.
If it’s variety you’re after, you’ve come to the right place. There’s no end to the different lengths and styles of lashes you can get, not to mention the bands. At the end of the day, the most important thing is that your false lashes add to your overall eye make-up.
You can create a more natural look by adding individual lashes where they’re needed. At the other extreme, you can apply fancy lashes for special occasions or photo shoots.

With a bit of practice, putting on false lashes is a doddle. You can either add them before or after mascara once you’ve finished your eye make-up. The main thing is to always curl your lashes first with a lash curler.
You then take the lashes carefully out of the packaging. Like real lashes, falsies have a shorter inner side and a longer outer edge of the eye side. That’s why you need to make sure you don’t mix up the right and left lashes.
Before you put the lashes on, you might need to alter the length of the band. To check it for size, hold the lashes up to your eye along the section where you intend to glue them. If the band is too long, trim it on the inside edge. Conversely, if the falsies band looks too short to begin with, you need to be more careful about where you position them.
Now it’s time for glue. Apply this evenly across the length of the band, making sure you’ve got enough at the ends. Then let the glue dry a bit.
You’ll find it’s easiest to apply false lashes when you tilt your head back slightly and have a good view of your eyelids in the mirror. You want to glue the falsies as close as you can to the lash line so they sit over your own lashes. First of all, place them in the middle and then position them carefully.
Once the lashes are in the right place, use eyelash tweezers to bond them.
The glue has to be completely dry before you apply mascara to your natural lashes. For a more intense look, apply some mascara to the falsies as well.

If you still don’t feel very confident putting on falsies, make sure you apply dark eyeliner. That way you won’t be able to tell if you haven’t got the lashes in exactly the right place. Another option is to just glue the lashes to the outer third of the eye. This has the advantage of being easier but still looking flattering.

When it comes to office supplies, I believe in form and function. From pens, scissors, paper notes to glittery glue and funky folders. That’s what I’m about at work. When I’m not busy checking out the latest desk accessories, I enjoy jetting off to remote corners of the world, lifting weights or taking an evening walk.
