Drink enough when it's hot!

Summer has officially begun and with it comes the first heat. When it's hot, it's very important to stay well hydrated. "Drink a lot" is the motto. Here are some tips and suitable products to help you drink enough.
Water is good!
Drinking enough water is a vital necessity for your body. On average, to stay productive and healthy, your body needs - depending on your weight and how hard you work - between 2 and 3 litres of water a day. In hot weather, it's even more! To achieve these volumes, you can drink tap water, sparkling water, infused with fruit or herbs.
Do you find it hard to drink lots of water? I've put together a few tips that should help you drink enough.
- I always carry a bottle of water with me, which helps me to drink plenty, no matter where I am. Once it's empty, I refill it! Here in Switzerland, you can do this at almost any tap and at a large majority of fountains - there are no excuses!

In insulated bottles, your drink stays cooler for longer.
- Reduce limescale and substances that distort the taste of tap water with a filter.
- Do you prefer sparkling water? Carbonate your own tap water. That way, you don't have to carry bottles and you don't produce PET waste.
- Syrups sweeten your water. But be careful not to consume too many sugary drinks!
- If you need a drink with flavour from time to time, make yourself some herbal teas with fresh fruit or herbs. Cold they are also good and refreshing at the same time.
- You can add a little punch to your water by using fruit and herbs. My tip: add lemon slices or half a lime and a few mint leaves to the water (those who like an acidic taste can squeeze the lemon into the water). Berries (especially blackcurrants, strawberries or raspberries) also give the water a nice flavour. The best thing to do is to jump right in!
You can either fill a whole carafe...
...or put the fruit and such straight into your bottle - that's what I prefer.
