DIY tip: drive in the nails, not your fingers

When I steal my boyfriend's comb, it's usually for parting my hair. But I also sometimes steal it for my DIY projects.
My hands and precision go hand in hand. I'm better at big jobs than anything that requires precision. When it comes to hammering nails, no miracle.... Sometimes I miss my target and hit the wrong spot, and unfortunately it's my fingers that suffer the consequences. With experience, I've learnt to hit less hard. But even those who are normally pretty good at precision work can have moments of weakness. After the tenth frame to be hung, concentration is no longer the same and your fingers suffer.

There's a simple trick to avoid tapping your fingers, especially if you don't have the right tools at home. You'll probably find a comb in your bathroom. No, I'm not asking you to comb your hair again, but it will be a great help in saving your fingers. I use it to hold the nail in place. Simply slide the nail between two teeth of the comb and place the comb where you want to put the nail. That way, your fingers are far away and safe.

Of course, the teeth of your comb shouldn't be too far apart, otherwise the nail will fall out. If you ever don't have a comb to hand, you can also use a clothes peg.
