DIY keyring with pompoms

Pompoms are all the rage. I therefore used the balls of wool to make myself a colourful key ring that also serves as a lucky charm.

As a teacher, I am always trying out new techniques with my schoolchildren to create the ultimate key ring. With the pompom pendant, we believe we have achieved our goal.

What you need

To make the pompoms fluffy, you need a thick woollen yarn. You will also need wood beads and a key ring or carabiner. With a fork, needle and scissors you are equipped for crafting.

Four steps to the goal

1. Wrap the front part of a fork with yarn. When you have reached the desired thickness, tie another piece of yarn diagonally with a double knot. The thicker the wrapping, the fluffier the pompom will be.

2. Pull the ball of yarn from the fork and cut both sides of the stitch with scissors. This will cause the pompom to fan out more and more. Finally, style the protruding pieces of yarn and leave a long piece of yarn.

3. Thread the wooden beads onto the remaining piece of yarn.

4. Tie the pearl necklace to the carabiner. Repeat this process until you think you have enough pompom pendants.

Possible use of the trailer

On the one hand, you can use the pendant as a key ring. However, I also find it suitable as a decoration on a bag or rucksack. You can also give it to your children as a lucky charm or something similar. My son has his new pendant on his Chindgsi bag to give him courage. He started kindergarten this summer and likes to use his Chindsgi walk to get up to a bit of mischief. We discussed that the pendant should help him to make the right decisions.

I'm sure you'll find a suitable use for it too, and I wish you lots of fun making it.

My students, but also my own children, inspire me every day with their wild imaginations. I love to document the creative projects that come from them on my blog Fantasiewerk. I hope to inspire many moms and dads to do crafts with their children. [Fantasiewerk.ch](https://fantasiewerk.ch)
