Create a playground in the garden!

On the playground, children can let off steam, develop their motor skills and be creative in a protected environment. In a garden, they can play in the open air and in complete safety. For children, the garden is often where all their adventures take place. They stay busy and happy for a long time when they're playing hide-and-seek or discovering nature. With just a little effort, you can turn the garden into a real children's paradise.
When planning a playground in the garden, you need to pay attention to the following characteristics: the space available, the children's interests, age and budget.
The space available
Think about not building elements all over the garden so that children still have room to play ball for example. Don't forget that an expanse of flowering grass or a pile of pebbles is just as interesting to a child as play equipment. Tip: divide the garden into different zones and explain to the child where he or she is not allowed to play (e.g. in the freshly sown bed) and where he or she can take action with a seal and a shovel.
Children's interests
The ideal playground is one designed specifically for children. Having tons of play elements is pointless if children don't play with them. With a sandpit and a toboggan, you generally can't do anything wrong; all the kids love playing with them. What's more, the play elements are a factor in attracting other children in the neighbourhood. So, thanks to the garden playground, children's social behaviour is also shaped.
Age
At the age of 2, a playground with a slide, sandpit and little house is already paradise for children and they can already, more or less independently, look after themselves. The older the children, the more they like a challenge: higher, further and faster is their motto. They like to climb play modules and let off more steam on the lawn by playing ball.
My suggestions
With these products, you create a play paradise for children aged between 2 and 3.
For anyone with less budget and space, we recommend this combined solution: the Adventure Car is a sandpit, slide and car for playing in one.
Wooden products for children aged 2 to 3 are a good alternative to plastic products for your garden playground.
Swings with different play options around them also offer lots of playtime fun and change for older children. Especially for large gardens, I recommend laying shock-absorbing tiles underneath. Children fall onto something softer than grass.
If you're on the move or don't have a large garden and therefore no room for a playground at home, you can find playgrounds in your vicinity at freizeitplatz.ch (in German).

I love the strategy game “The Settlers of Catan”, the Ravensburger puzzle “Colourful Cupcakes” and the pink fluffy unicorn that sits on my desk (a birthday present from my workmates). Not only do I have a weakness for toys, I also get excited about good food and comedy TV shows.
