Colour, flower power, fluid gender identities: this was Mode Suisse Edition 2023
Mode Suisse took place in the new building of the Zurich Kunsthaus on 4 September. The (young) designers seemed to agree: dresses, heels and bright colours are for everyone.
In addition to old hands such as Mourjjan and Sarah Bounab, Basel newcomers Anastasia Bull and Ba Si as well as the label Danz, founded by Mara Danz in Glarus in 2021, also showed their textile outpourings at this year's edition of the Swiss fashion event Mode Suisse.
The collections were served on a marble tray, aka in the imposing entrance hall of the new Zurich Kunsthaus building. Although there were plenty of beautiful angles, it was easy not to lose focus on the essentials: the collections. And they were unanimous:
Fashion will be colourful, floral and unisex
At Mara Danz, there were flowers, butterflies, tulle and swinging silhouettes. And for all gender identities. This came about naturally while working on her collection, explains the newcomer on her website: "The interplay of materials reminded me of our bodies and identities - fragile, dynamic, fluid, hard, rigid, flowing. Everything coexists, relates to each other, connects or imitates each other."

Artfully draped pleats, theatrical silhouettes, accessories that thrust themselves into the limelight. Anastasia Bull indulges in fantasies for her designs and stages "body and soul to increase the feeling of self-love". And self-love, let's be honest, we can all use it.

Basel-based designer Ba Si also has a colourful and fluid view of the (fashion) world. Not only are the cuts in his collection fluid, the identity also seems to know no norms or boundaries. Shoulders can be broad, waists emphasised, slits high and fabrics flowing. No matter who wears them.
