Christmas in jet black
Black has never looked this festive: elegant black Christmas decorations are popping up all over the place. Advent wreaths or candle holders – this Christmas is black and beautiful.
While searching for a last-minute Advent wreath and other Christmas decoration accessories, I noticed that there's a large variety of black designs. Although not usually associated with Christmas, black looks elegant and is wildly popular this year. Black seems to be rather trendy in general, with engineers around the world competing to develop the blackest black. Since this September, the new «Vantablack» from MIT is considered the new «blackest black». It won't be the last one.
The hype surrounding this colour might also be based on the fact that black is easy to combine with any other colour. As in fashion, black Christmas accessories look good in combination with red, green or gold.
It might take some time, but you will get used to black being festive. I have learned to appreciate the dark side of design: I own a few accessories and furniture in black. But that doesn’t mean my flat looks gloomy. Au contraire, this colour has a calming effect on my home and makes it look inviting and comfy. All it takes is to light a candle or put up fairy lights and this dark shade will radiate a festive and warm Christmas mood.
