Basic knowledge: here's how the tests were done
Each cosmetics manufacturer was able to send in two new products per category launched on the Swiss market between 1 November 2015 and 31 October 2016. The jury was made up of around ninety people and included dermatologists, a cosmetic surgeon, a naturopath, professional cosmetologists, hairdressers, facialists, editors and readers. Divided according to the 24 categories, the members of the jury tested and rated more than 700 products sent in.
The new products were rated using a questionnaire. The jury noted, on the one hand, the attractiveness, the degree of innovation and the ecological aspect of the packaging and design. Points were also awarded for the composition and effect of the products. These aspects were given a higher weighting. The critics assessed consistency, how the product felt on the skin and whether it really lived up to its promise. The six products in each category with the most points won a nomination. The winner of each category was then rewarded with an "Anna". The other five nominated products all received a diploma.
