Five long-haired Galaxus employees, five Dafni hairbrushes with ceramic surfaces and a questionnaire. The aim? To find out whether this revolutionary device lives up to its promise.

Employees are often the most critical. That's why we chose five Galaxus employees with different hair types to test the new Dafni electric hairbrush with ceramic surface. The device not only promises straight hair in 3 minutes, but also gentle straightening of wavy, curly and normal hair. But is it true? Our testers Rilinda, Filiz, Sara, Larissa and Samera will tell us. They had two weeks to test the electric hairbrush thoroughly. After finishing the test, they answered seven questions. Naturally, we've summarised the results of the test for you.

Responses from the five users

1. How long did it take you to style your hair The five women with long hair answered between 5 and 15 minutes. So the promised 3 minutes is a bit tight, but the time often differs depending on the length of the hair and most certainly on the technique applied and practice. 2. How easy was it to use? Easier than a straightener?

With a brush, you no longer need to take one strand after another to straighten them. You can go straight through the hair with the brush; which makes the task much easier. A smooth surface is easier and quicker to achieve with the brush. Filiz lamented the lack of heat regulation, like that found on straighteners.

3. How often did you use the Dafni hair brush during the test period?

The young women were diligent. During the two weeks of testing they used the brush between 4 and 14 times.

4. Were you satisfied with the result?

Here, the opinion of the five women differed. From very satisfied to disappointed, there was a little bit of everything. It's with pleasure that we detail the opinions:

Rilinda was very sceptical at the start of the test. She was curious to know if the brush really worked. As soon as she ran the brush through her hair for the first time, her scepticism turned to enthusiasm. The result was very good, the hair very soft and there was no burnt smell like with straighteners.

Filiz wasn't happy with the result, as she wasn't able to tame her rather dry and rough hair. All she got was a tuft of straight hair that looked more like straw than a smooth, shiny surface. In combination with a straightener and a hair smoothing serum she managed to achieve a more or less acceptable result. For her hair, it would appear that this appliance is not the right one.

Sara unfortunately wasn't able to straighten her hair as desired. It was even electric after using the Dafni brush. However, she considers the device a good complement to the straightener. By pre-styling the hair with the brush and finishing with a straightener, the hairstyle was ready in no time.

After the fifth use, the Dafni brush won Larissa over. She needed time to adapt and first had to find a good grip to achieve the desired result.

Samera finds the Dafni brush very easy to use.

Samera finds the brush good if you want to achieve straight hair. For a voluminous or wavy result, the brush is not suitable. As the manufacturer promises neither, this point is irrelevant and we consider the review positive.

5. Was the result as good as that achieved with a straightener in terms of shine, structure, etc.

Rilinda prefers the result achieved with the Dafni straightening brush, as she finds her hair fuller and it doesn't smell burnt. The time saving of almost 50 minutes persuaded Rilinda so much that she decided to part with her straightener.

As stated above, Filiz will be sticking with the straightener because her hair is really smooth with it and the result lasts longer. For her, the straightener is the only solution to tame her hair. With the brush, she doesn't notice any shine or structure. However, she would use the brush before the straightener to achieve the desired result more quickly.

For Sara, the straightener is still number one, because with it her hair stays straight and shiny for longer. She, too, finds the brush/straightener combination a good thing especially for saving time.

Although hair structure and shine are the same with the brush and straightener, Larissa prefers the straightener for a really smooth result. In the future, for everyday or quick use, she will use the electric hairbrush.

Samera finds the comparison between a brush and a straightener inappropriate, as the straightener offers more options (volume, curls, waves, straight hair...). To use an electric brush properly, your hair should be well brushed beforehand. Regardless of the position of the straightening brush, Samera found it difficult to reach the roots of the hair because of the wide brush head.

6. Do you like the design and manoeuvrability of the brush?

The design is generally well liked. The brush is especially convincing with its wide head, which allows smoothing in a single stroke. The five women describe it as handy, easy to use, pleasant in the hand, usable for both left- and right-handers and not too heavy.

7. Would you recommend this device to a good friend?

Rilinda and Samera would recommend it in any case. Filiz and Sara would recommend it to different people, depending on their hair type. Larissa would especially recommend it to women who find it difficult to use a straightener or who prefer natural hair straightening.

Conclusion:the Dafni hairbrush is the talk of the town.

The classic straightener is a device that has been on the market for a long time. Everyday users have been able to get used to the technologies and use. Habit is second nature to humans. New technologies and new appliances don't always make it easy. But the electric hairbrush definitely has a future. It's a great everyday companion, because you can style your hair quickly. You'll certainly need a period of adjustment to the new device, but after several uses, you'll find the right technique to adopt with the hairbrush, and be able to style your hair even faster.
