7 stylish and surprising clothes rails

Need more storage space, want to stage your favourite clothing items or looking to replace your clothes chair with a more stylish solution? You’re sure to find what you’re looking for in my collection of clothes rails.

This isn’t a plea against a conventional wardrobe. But one for thinking outside the clothes storage box. After all, pretty rails and racks aren’t only a great way to stage selected fashion favourites, they even pass as decorative objects.

1. Large and versatile

The Dora Clothes Stand by Ferm Living is a stylish home for towels and works best in large bathrooms. But this beautiful, powder-coated metal stand also makes a good addition to a bedroom or a dressing room. Its side sections are arranged at various heights and can be flexibly angled, making it easy to fit this rail into any space. The Dora Clothes Stand is available in cashmere and black.

2. Straight lines and angles

Clothes that are lying or hanging around can make your room look messy. This clothes rack features straight lines and plain black steel, which counteract this effect. Thanks to its T-construction, it’s also perfect for making the most of unused corners.

3. Perfectly shaped

Atelier Pfister, or more precisely the Swiss designer Andreas Bechtiger, has designed Gams, a clothes rack that’s almost too beautiful to cover up. It offers 80 centimetres of hanging space for your fashion favourites.

4. Hanging highlight

Vertical storage is an underestimated idea, especially in small rooms. Why have everything on the floor if you can just as easily hang it up? Fenton, this metal clothes rail by CLP, is mounted on the ceiling and carries up to 50 kg. It looks stunning and allows you to place a dresser underneath it if you want even more storage space.

5. Colourful and curvy

Jungle green, eggshell, black, dijon powder – this S-shaped coat rail by Danish brand Hay is available in four cool colours. Similar to Gams, it’s more than just functional furniture. It’s a visual highlight. However, with a width of 1.44 metres, it takes up quite some space.

6. Perfect pillar

This round metal coat rack by Schönbuch is a clever solution to save space and offer a variety of storage options at the same time. It’s 1.70 metres high and has a diameter of 55 centimetres. Yes, it’s on the pricy side, but that’s because it’s designed by famous German studio F/P Design. Is it worth its price tag of almost 400 francs? Well, that’s up to you to decide.

7. Two in one

Hongi, this clothes rail made of beautifully grained pine wood, offers 1.50 metres of hanging space and a mirror. If you find the clear lacquered version too subtle, the dark brown version might be up your street.
