7 steps to looking even more beautiful when you get off the plane

Wondering why your skin rebels after a long flight? Here are a few tips and tricks from a former plane passenger.
The long-awaited summer holidays are finally here and the suitcase is already packed. The only hurdle you still have to clear is the journey. Many people don't realise that as well as tiring us physically, (long) flights also tire our skin. The culprit: the cabin air, which at 10 kilometres altitude is very dry. Here are 7 steps to follow to avoid irritating your skin.
Up in the Air
#1 Prevention rather than cure: in the evening, before you leave, your skin needs an extra dose of care. So opt for a moisturising mask, apply it generously all over your face and relax on the sofa while the treatment takes effect. If you've already packed your bags, you'll be able to enjoy this beauty ritual doubly.
#2 Anti-jetlag: it's best to set your watch to the time of your destination just before you leave. By sticking to the new time for eating and sleeping during the flight you minimise the chaos in your biorhythm.
#3 The magic of wipes: for long-haul flights, I do without make-up entirely so as not to clog my pores and so that my skin can breathe better. Are you flying at night? I recommend removing your make-up with make-up remover wipes just after take-off or after a meal . Big advantage: they're allowed in the (bag of liquids) hand luggage.
#4 All about hydration: after removing your make-up, apply a clear hydrating mask that you leave, like a cream, overnight. At regular intervals, I spray soothing thermal spring water on my face. Make sure the spray doesn't exceed 100 ml. To combat dryness, an eye cream that can also be applied to the lips, a seawater spray for the nose and eye drops are recommended.
#5 You are what you eat: is your face puffy? Then try to eat as little salty food as possible and skip the alcoholic, sugary drinks and coffee. The high pressure in the booth causes the skin to swell. Combined with these drinks, the result is even more pronounced. Prefer water and don't hesitate to abuse it.
#6 Bright Eyes: drops aren't the only way to combat puffy eyes. The eye patches are also a great help. I recommend using them an hour before landing. These are hydrogel or fabric pads that are applied like a mask. Place them under the eyes and leave on for fifteen minutes.
#7 Finally: just before landing, you can apply a tinted day cream. A cream blush adds colour to your face and lips. A little concealer to hide dark circles, some mascara and your make-up is complete. Above all: don't forget to brush your teeth!
