7 Singles’ Day products – no discounts, but a chance to win

The 11th of November is a shopping holiday – at least according to some online store in China that made it so. While we don’t have any special offers here, you can discover a selection of products suitable for singles – and try your luck in a prize draw.
True to our slogan, at Galaxus you’ll find «pretty much everything». There’s just one thing you won’t find this year. Namely, a Singles’ Day bargain battle. We believe we’ve got good prices anyway – feel free to leave any complaints, insults or contrary claims in the comments. Besides, Black Friday’s coming up soon ...
Still, did Singles’ Day trigger a shopping reflex and lead you here? If so, I wouldn’t want to cause you complete disappointment. So, here’s a collection of products you may find useful as a single person – plus you can enter for a chance to win one of them. Find out which one it is that’s up for grabs below.
1. Raclette for one
This product is currently in season, and it’s one of the first results if you google «galaxus single». Possibly because of a review left by user «DB17» two years ago: «Perfect for singles.» Maybe the Duo Raclette oven even works well for two people. Who knows?
2. «Single» toothbrush head in a twin pack
This product has me perplexed. It’s a duo of electric toothbrush heads – perfect for couples! What could be more romantic than brushing your teeth in tandem and then replacing the tattered remains together? After all, you do hear that rhythm and routine can make or break a relationship. But then why do they bear the name «Single»? A look at the product description cleared things up. In reality, the «Single» refers to this being one of three available types of brush heads. And the «Single» model is supposed to be especially well suited to braces, implants, arches, wires and the like. It all makes sense now!
3. Games that’ll allow you to argue with yourself
Board games are a nice way to pass the time, and a perfect way to enjoy a few hours of digital detox with good friends. But beware of overzealous players and cheaters – they can kill the mood in no time flat. Come to think of it, a game that’ll at most allow you to start arguing with yourself might be the safer bet ...

4. Two single hotplates
You always hear that cooking and eating is what really brings people together. That’s why I was surprised to find so many single-worthy stove tops in our range. This includes models for ambitious cooks who can handle two hot plates at once, as well as models for those who are fulfilled with just one. One’s enough to heat up that can of alphabetti spaghetti, after all.
5. Hungry for wok?
Here’s the thing: I can get behind stove tops made for singles. But a wok? Just for singles? Really? It’s not that I’m against smaller sized portions. But you can grab one of those at your local Asian restaurant. Let’s be real, no one’s going to bang out their wok at home just to cook up a bit of fried rice. Although ... hold on a sec! The product description states this mini wok is suitable for two people. Someone make it make sense! Perhaps this double wok model, which my colleague Simon Balissat recently tested and rated positively, is the better option.
6. Sex can be a party for one
Men who first use their cooking skills to make women swoon and then seduce them are popular in romantic movies. Drinks first, and then tickle the pickle? Or do you wait until after dinner, and then move on to horizontal refreshment? Hey, if you eat alone, you can cut the washing-up in half and have the sole say in what goes on in the bedroom.
7. Perfect for the morning after
After your night of singletude, you decide when you want to get up. And you don’t have the pressure of having to hang around the stove, half-dressed, to fix up eggs and coffee for your partner, who’s still fast asleep. As a single person, you’re pragmatic. Accordingly, you’ve equipped your kitchen with all the right appliances.
