3 pairs of slippers I wear outside my home – if I have to
Am I lazy or am I efficient? In any case, I’ve fallen in love with these slippers because I can wear them almost everywhere I go.
I like things to be handy and uncomplicated. With this in mind, it’s about time I didn’t have to wrap myself up in several layers of clothing before leaving the house. A hat? Sigh. A scarf? Sob. A thick jacket? Will this nightmare of layers ever end? Grabbing a jumper on my way out – that’s more my style.
This year, I’m planning to take my «ready, steady, go» mentality one step further: I want to leave the house without even changing my shoes. In other words, I need slippers that will pass as shoes, too.
Sure, you might wonder how much of a hurry I’m in when I go out – and argue that slippers are completely unfit for purpose when you wear them outside. Fair points, but I don’t care. I want that 2-in-1 shoe.
Candidate no. 1: Tasman by UGG
The Tasman isn’t quite as chunky as its UGG siblings, but just as comfy thanks to its lambskin lining. Featuring a suede upper, these slippers are a bit delicate, making them more of a good-weather companion, but their non-slip treaded soles mean you’re still equipped for pretty much any outdoor adventure. The pretty embroidered hem peeks out from under your trouser legs – what a waste if you only wore these slippers inside your own four walls.

Candidate no. 2: Mallow Mule by Toms
Have you ever dreamed of leaving the house with your duvet wrapped around you? The Mallow Mule slippers by Toms are the equivalent for your feet. They rest your toes on an RMAT outsole that’s easy on the feet and joints and covered with fluffy faux fur. The quilted outside made of recycled polyester blend makes them look and feel like a soft duvet.
Of course, pale pink is a bold choice for a life outdoors. If you’d like a more subtle slipper, I recommend the black version.

Candidate no. 3: Classic Lined Clog by Crocs
Crocs are controversial, I know. You either love them or you hate them. And to be honest, I used to be a hater. But what can I say? The lightweight plastic clogs are just so comfy and their soft lining makes them feel like you’re walking on teddy bears. So it’s no wonder people wear them outside their home or garden. Honestly, they’re my favourites of the three candidates. They’re robust, easy to clean and feature a heel strap that gives you extra support if you need it.
Add small colourful pins, so-called Jibbitz, in any shape and colour to give your Crocs an additional personal touch, if you like. I’m wearing mine as they are – for now.
