The classic design of this legendary sneaker has not changed much from 1966 to today: a simple canvas low top with straightforward lacing and the original Vans Waffle Sole. The latter is also the reason why it has always been so popular among skaters. The durable rubber sole with its unique waffle pattern provides excellent grip, making it ideal for skateboarding. In the 1970s, this sparked a true Vans wave in skate-loving California, the shoe's home. SoCal teenagers were often seen only in these shoes, and since then, Vans has secured a permanent place in skate culture.
