I know of few hardshells that keep the wet and wind out as well as the Men's Granite Crest Rain Jacket from Patagonia. I've tested it on hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking and spring ski tours and have been delighted every time. The hood offers very generous space for a mountain bike or ski helmet, which makes it a real all-rounder for me between April and October...
Nice and comfortable, very breathable, lightweight and well equipped: The Patagonia Granite Crest Rain Pants (285 g, 1.1 litre) are ideally placed to win the test. However, they lose out due to their less than optimal weather protection: In constant rain, the upper end of the 3/4-length leg zips get soaked.
