The filter cartridge is both paste-free and food safe and is manufactured in Germany in an environmentally friendly way from renewable raw materials.
Pollutant retentionPollutant retention is brought about by three active principles of the activated carbon:
- Due to the filter fineness of 20 µm, particles larger than the filter pores are retained. Based on the mechanical effect, suspended particles, rust particles and microplastics, for example, are retained.
- Due to the catalytic effect, certain substances such as chlorine and chlorine compounds can be converted. These are then no longer present in their original form. - Due to the adsorptive effect, further pollutants can be absorbed. In this case, they accumulate directly on the activated carbon and remain there.
- Thanks to the adsorptive effect, organic compounds such as pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, heavy metals such as lead and copper, drug residues, hormones and taste-disturbing substances can be retained.

Hard, calcareous water is a well-known problem in most Swiss communities. In particular, hard to very hard water can be expected in the canton of Jura, Basel-Land and the Mittelland. Hard water has numerous disadvantages: in addition to calcification of faucets and household appliances, the consumption of detergents and rinsing agents increases. In addition, the taste of beverages and food is negatively affected. After a long development of the engineers at Riva Wasserfiltertechnik we are finally able to offer a chemical-free, biological filter solution. The working principle of our lime filter Riva Alva Kalk is based on the natural principle of seed crystal formation. As soon as the drinking water comes into contact with our granulate, the lime contained in it begins to grow on the granulate in the form of tiny crystals. These lime crystals are removed from the surface of the granulate and flushed out through the pipe network without being able to settle on other surfaces. This can significantly reduce limescale deposits on surfaces and in household appliances. The filter cartridge must be replaced after 6 months. The recommended maximum flow rate is 8000 liters. Depending on the water quality, especially with noticeably reduced water flow, a filter cartridge change may also be necessary at shorter intervals.
The rivaALVA-S EM filter cartridge is a sintered 10 µm activated carbon block filter enriched with EM ceramic powder during manufacture (sintering process).
EM stands for Effective Microorganisms. For the production of EM Ceramics, a specially fired clay is used that contains organic material from plants that are millions of years old and are food for the Effective Microorganisms (EM) during the fermentation process that lasts several months. EM ceramics causes, among other things, a reduction in the surface tension of water and the reduction of cluster structures.
The filter cartridge is food safe and is manufactured in Germany in an environmentally friendly way from renewable raw materials.
