Region:
The name Bündner Herrschaft has been used since the 16th century when the Three Leagues purchased the area. In the Middle Ages, the Completer grape was cultivated here, named after the Completer, the evening prayer of the Chur cathedral canons. The red wines, which now make up the vast majority of production, were only introduced in the 17th century. Today, there are over 40 grape varieties grown on approximately 420 hectares, maintained by around 90 wineries. Many wine lovers believe that, apart from Burgundy, Bündner Herrschaft has the best terroir for Pinot Noir. The key to success lies in the not overly rich, permeable soils of silt, gravel, sand, and Bündner slate. Additionally, the ideal climate in the Bündner Rhine Valley, characterized by plenty of sunshine, the Föhn wind, and significant temperature differences between day and night, contributes to this.

Grape Variety: Pinot Noir

Production:
Fully ripe and selected Pinot Noir grapes are aged for 12 months in barriques.

Tasting Notes:
Notes of dark fruits such as blackberries, cherries, and plums, complemented by fine, subtle wood and tobacco notes from the barrique aging. On the palate, it is playful and fruity at the start, transitioning to an increasingly expressive Pinot Noir aroma. It finishes with finely polished tannins, elegance, and great length.

Drinking Maturity: Vintage + 5 years

Enjoy with:
Pairs well with grilled cuts of beef, duck breast, and wild game that is roasted rather than braised. A leg of lamb roasted in the oven – that is, gigot. Perfect for table grilling, pizza, and pasta. Enjoy slightly chilled with grilled sea fish like dorade and sea bass. Aged cow's milk cheeses. Everything from the Bündner cuisine!.
