Product details
The name of this incredible wine refers to what happens at the vineyard after a long hike to a flat rock known as "Breakfast Rock." The winemaker enjoys a hearty meal while looking down from the mountain at the vineyards, the homestead, and across the Overberg Valley to the distant purple-hued mountain range of the Riviersonderend Mountains to the north. "It's the kind of view that leaves you speechless. It's such a feast for the eyes, so impressively beautiful that all words seem superfluous."
This wine embodies the winemaker's dream of producing a red wine from his own estate. His vision was to create this wine primarily from the two grape varieties he loves: Shiraz and Malbec. The cuvée is perfectly rounded out by small amounts of grape varieties with distinctive individual character. "With this wine, we aim to capture the essence of this corner of the universe, the spirit and beauty of this place. Our goal was to recreate the landscape as a painting of aromas and flavors, with the grapes serving as the material for our art."
The wine showcases the characteristic ripe blackberry fruit and herbal notes of Drift Farm, with white pepper and a hint of cigar box on the nose. The palate presents dominant ripe fruit, revealing an elegant red spectrum of cherries, raspberries, and plums over a layer of enticing dark chocolate and darker black fruits like mulberries.
