The winery was founded in 1899 by José Joaquim Costa and his wife Maria José Sequeira. Today, it is run by José Joaquim Costa's great-great-granddaughter Maria da Graça and her husband. The Quinta de Sequeira is located in a prime area of the Douro Superior, which is known for the high quality of its grapes.
