Fontodi Chianti Classico

The 2017 Chianti Classico Fontodi is a wine of extreme elegance that showcases the evolution of the house style. A decade ago, in a warm year, the Fontodi Chianti Classico would have been opulent, but today owner Giovanni Manetti aims more for finesse than power, which is evident in this vintage. Ripe red Sangiovese fruits, rose petals, blood orange, and spices give this vibrant, exotic Chianti Classico a remarkable character. The 2017 vintage spent two years in oak, with half aging in barrels and the other half in neutral oak. I loved it.
