Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Wachenheimer "R" 2016 White wine, vol. 12%, 75cl
The barrel reserve of the 2016 vintage is simply terrific. The R on the label shows that this is not the normal local wine. This reserve was produced like those of the years before with the Wachenheimer Ortswein and then lies for almost three years in large wooden barrels on the yeast.
On the nose, it is quite spicy at the start with a yeasty touch and ripe fruit, coming across as very powerful and wild. On the palate it shines with lots of juiciness, yellow fruit and tight acidity, powerful body and ripe fruit again.
The white wine is so complex, intense and the barrel aging is clearly noticeable.
Pairs perfectly with fish and salad.
