Product details
The Susumaniello grape is likely of Dalmatian origin. During its ripening phase, after about 10 years, productivity declines somewhat. However, in its early years, the vine is very productive and has a high sugar content, which is also reflected in the name Susumaniello, meaning "loaded like a donkey" in German, as donkeys are known to carry heavy loads in their younger years. The grape reaches its full ripeness in mid-September, contains a medium-sized seed, and has a plum-like blue skin. The Susumaniello exhibits excellent overall acidity and has more than double the anthocyanins (coloring agents) compared to Negroamaro, as well as a high extract content.
