Artista Midnight Robusto

The Midnight by Artista is the strongest and most full-bodied of all Artista cigars. A beautiful, dark, and oily Ecuadorian Habano adorns this cigar. The Connecticut Shade binder from Ecuador adds a subtle sweetness, while the fillers from three different countries create a very contrasting flavor profile. It is a sophisticated cigar with excellent craftsmanship, perhaps more suited for an evening smoke than for morning coffee. The box-pressed Midnight is available in both Robusto and Toro sizes.

With the Midnight line, Tabacalera El Artista has taken new paths. For the blend, they have included not only the tobacco farmers but also the cigar rollers, which is not entirely traditional. The latter are usually not involved in the creation of a blend. However, considering that they hold every cigar in their hands and often have a significant consumption themselves, this approach makes a lot of sense.

About Artista Cigars: Tabacalera El Artista (TEA) has been growing tobacco for about 70 years as a family business in its third generation and is one of the largest tobacco producers in the Dominican Republic. Part of the tobacco is used for their own blends, while the majority is sold to cigar manufacturers. The hand-rolled cigars from Artista are the passion project of Radhames "Ram" Rodriguez, the grandson of founder Ramon "Pulita" Rodriguez.

Tasting Report: Cigar exterior: oily, leathery wrapper. Cigar interior: medium rolling. Smoke: full-bodied smoke volume. Flavor: strong, earthy coffee notes, peppery, citrus fruits. Burn: good burn behavior.
