Alvi’s Drift Reserve Drift Fusion

As the name suggests, old and new merge here – not only in terms of grapes and wine style but also regarding the production process. Each grape variety is vinified separately to showcase its specific characteristics through methods and stylistic choices suitable for the respective grapes. The must is extracted from the skins to enhance the color. Subsequently, each grape variety undergoes its own unique process in the cellar. In some cases, this means open fermentation, pumping over, and aging in French oak barrels, while other varieties enjoy partial tank fermentation and finish fermenting in barrels. After fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French and American oak barrels, of which 30% are new.

This Cape Blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, beautifully complementing the classic Bordeaux variety and the venerable Shiraz, seamlessly connected to the South African grape variety Pinotage. This velvety wine boasts an intense aroma of ripe blackberries, cherries, and plums, with well-integrated vanilla and cashew nut notes that cascade into a lingering finish on the palate. The wine continues to improve with aging for up to eight years.
