Question about Withings BPM Core blood pressure monitor
The central question for me is: are the data transmitted DIRECTLY to the mobile phone, or are they sent via wifi to the Withings servers, and from there to the app. If this were the case (as it seems to be with the Withings scale), and the health data MUST be shared with Withings, this is an absolute criterion for exclusion in the case of such sensitive data as we have here. Can anyone answer this?
It concerns the second version, the blood pressure results incl. heart rate are displayed on the blood pressure monitor and then all data are sent to the server. Optionally, you can then view all results on the app.
I have had the older model from Winthings BPM and the blood pressure device from QARDIO (Qardioarm). These devices send the
data directly to the app. With both devices you have to register. I find it hard to imagine that the data remains locally on the mobile phone.
I had to install the app, the data is transferred directly to the phone, but the app sends it AUTOMATICALLY to Withings with no way to prevent this. You can't install the app if you don't select the data exchange option. In addition, you can't sync if you don't have localisation turned on - and it's hard to understand why Withings needs this data.... Data octopus - better not to buy!
