What are sisal plant fibres? Sisal fibre, also known as Agave sisalana, is a plant fibre that resembles the top of a pineapple. Its sword-like leaves grow between 1.5 and 2 metres tall and have an average lifespan of 7 to 10 years. The plant can produce up to 250 leaves, each containing about 1,000 fibres. The sisal fibre is incredibly environmentally friendly as it is weeded by hand and comes from sustainable cultivation.
