For optimal results, mix the Illumina color with Wella Welloxon Perfect developer in a 1:1 ratio, choosing between 6%, 9%, or 12% concentrations based on your desired outcome. A 6% developer is recommended for coloring within one tone lighter, covering gray hair effectively, or darkening hair by any number of tones. A 9% developer lifts hair by two to three tones and is suitable for coloring dark hair without prior bleaching, while a 12% developer provides maximum lift of five to six tones for thick, dark hair or bleaching applications.

Application should begin on dry, unwashed hair, starting at the roots for overall coloring or darkening, and working through to the ends. For root touch-ups or lightening, apply the mixture to the lengths and ends while keeping a 2 cm distance from the scalp. Processing times vary: 30-40 minutes without heat or 15-25 minutes with heat for overall coloring or darkening, 20 minutes without heat or 10 minutes with heat for lengths only, and 30-40 minutes without heat or 15-25 minutes with heat for root applications. After processing, rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear, then shampoo and condition. Avoid using metal tools during mixing and application to ensure optimal performance and color results.
