Product details

Suitable for

Individuals with a healthy lifestyle and pregnant women are advised to monitor their iron reserves.

Reasons for a test

Ferritin is a protein complex that allows for the collection and storage of iron in cells. It serves as an iron reserve, storing iron and releasing it to the body as needed. Therefore, monitoring ferritin levels is also a way to assess the body's iron reserves. In fact, measuring ferritin reserves, which can drop to very low levels, is an initial indicator of iron deficiency. As iron deficiency increases, ferritin reserves become depleted. Symptoms of anemia typically appear later. Thus, monitoring iron reserves is an optimal method for detecting iron deficiency anemia and subsequently taking appropriate preventive measures.

How the iron deficiency anemia test works

The test operates on the principle of immunochromatography and is supplemented by a corresponding laboratory test. The cut-off value is set at 20 ng/ml in accordance with international standards.

Ingredients and instructions for use

Ingredients
1 aluminium protective bag contains: 1 test card, 1 plastic pipette and a desiccant pad, 1 dosing vial with 1 ml solution, 1 painless, sterile blood lancet for sampling, instructions for use. For information purposes only. Ingredient information / formulations are subject to change. We endeavour to keep the ingredient information correct but cannot guarantee its reliability, timeliness or accuracy.
Instructions for use
1. OPEN Open the aluminium protective bag and remove only the blood lancet and pipette. Discard the desiccant pad. Press the small orange stick in the blood lancet until you hear a click. The blood lancet is now activated. Note: Make sure that the trigger is not pressed, otherwise the needle will come out too early. 2. BLOOD LANCET Turn the orange-coloured stick to the left or right and remove it. Disinfect the fingertip of the index or middle finger with a cotton swab soaked in disinfectant. Massage the fingertip to increase blood flow. 3. INSERT Press the end of the blood lancet firmly against the disinfected part of the finger to make good contact. Press the trigger. The tip is automatically and securely retracted after use. 4. BLUTPROBE Hold the hand downwards and massage the fingertip until a large drop of blood forms. 5 PIPETTE Take the pipette without pressing the suction ball and touch the drop of blood with the pipette. The blood rises into the pipette via the principle of capillarity up to the line indicated on the pipette. If necessary, massage the finger again so that the blood rises to the line on the pipette. Avoid air bubbles as far as possible. 6. TEST Place the blood collected with the pipette on the sample field of the test card by pressing the suction ball of the pipette. 7. WAIT Wait until all the blood has been added to the sample field and then add 5 drops of solution to the sample field using the dosing bottle. READ THE RESULT AFTER EXACTLY 10 MINUTES. DO NOT READ ANY MORE AFTER 15 MINUTES The intensity of the colour of the line is not decisive for the evaluation of the test result. 8. POSITIVE RESULT Only one coloured line appears at the level of marker C (control). This result indicates that the ferritin value is below the normal value and a doctor must be consulted. 9. NEGATIVE RESULT Two coloured lines appear in the results window at the level of the T (test) and C (control) markings. The T line may be lighter in colour than the C line. This result indicates that the ferritin value is normal.
