About the Test
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an important role in the female reproductive system by promoting the growth of egg follicles in the ovaries. These egg follicles, also known as follicles, produce estrogen and progesterone, which help regulate the menstrual cycle. Perimenopause is the time when the body undergoes the natural transition to menopause, marking the end of the fertile years. An elevated FSH level may indicate that the body is in menopause. However, a single FSH value can be confusing during perimenopause, as estrogen production does not decrease evenly from day to day. Both estrogen and FSH levels can vary widely during this time. A high FSH level alone is not sufficient to confirm menopause. Therefore, our test kit includes two tests that should be conducted one week apart to confirm the results. If a woman's FSH blood level remains consistently elevated and she has not had a menstrual period for a year, it is generally assumed that she has reached menopause.
