Kaltostat is a calcium-sodium alginate wound dressing with hemostatic properties, particularly suitable for treating lightly bleeding and moderately exuding wounds. By absorbing sodium ions from the wound exudate, calcium ions from the dressing are released into the wound, aiding in hemostasis.

Upon contact with wound exudate, the dry alginate fibers in the dressing swell, creating an ideal moist and warm wound environment that promotes healing.
