CarboFlex® is a sterile, non-adherent primary dressing for superficial wounds or as a secondary dressing over a wound filler for deep wounds. The five-layer dressing has been specifically designed for the management of malodorous wounds. CarboFlex® consists of an absorbent wound contact layer, a central activated charcoal layer, and a soft, water-resistant outer layer.

Malodorous wounds, caused by various factors such as infections or tissue degradation, can be a burden for patients, their relatives, and healthcare providers. In addition to addressing the underlying causes, such as debridement and infection control, CarboFlex®, the activated charcoal dressing, is suitable for odor absorption.

Mechanism of action:

• The wound contact layer made of Hydrofiber® and calcium-sodium alginate mixture absorbs wound exudate and creates an optimal moist wound environment.
• The first EMA film quickly directs water vapor upward through the pores, protecting the activated charcoal from moisture.
• The activated charcoal binds unpleasant odors.
• The absorption pad takes up excess moisture to keep the underlying activated charcoal dry.
• The second EMA film directs the moisture from the absorption pad outward through the pores.

Application instructions:

• Do not cut CarboFlex®.
• CarboFlex® should not be covered with airtight materials.
• For fixation, a non-adherent tubular bandage, gauze bandages, or adhesive strips are suitable.
