The keel of the Titanic was laid on March 31, 1909, about fifteen weeks after the sister ship Olympic was launched. Both liners were built simultaneously and equipped with the utmost elegance and luxury. It was intended for both ships to serve in the prestigious transatlantic liner service of the White Star Line. Two years later, on May 31, 1911, the Northern Irish shipyard Harland & Wolff delivered the completed Olympic to the shipping company, and on the same day at around 12:15 PM, the Titanic was launched. With a length of 269.04 m, a width of 28.19 m, and a tonnage of 46,329 GRT, it surpassed all ships built up to that time and was the largest ship in the world in 1912. Captain Edward John Smith initially took command of the Olympic before switching to the Titanic for its maiden voyage. On Wednesday, April 10, 1912, it set sail from Southampton, narrowly avoiding a collision with the moored New York in the harbor. The stops at Cherbourg (France) and Queenstown (Ireland) were on the way to New York (USA). The crossing went smoothly until Sunday, April 14, 1912, around 11:40 PM (ship's time), when the lookout's bell rang due to numerous iceberg warnings. The ship grazed the iceberg on the starboard side and sank after two hours and forty minutes in the icy waters of the Atlantic. Only 712 people survived the disaster. Captain Smith went down with his ship.

On July 16, 1969, at 9:32 AM, the giant Saturn V rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, marking the most significant journey in human history. The massive Saturn V consisted of three main stages, stood 110 meters tall, and weighed 3,000 tons. It could carry a payload of 50 tons and reached a speed of 11.2 kilometers per second. The journey to the Moon, spanning 394,000 kilometers, took 72 hours. After reaching a low Earth orbit, the upper stage with the Apollo capsule received the thrust from the third stage of the launch vehicle to achieve the speed necessary for the flight to the Moon. Later, the Apollo module detached from the rocket, rotated, and pulled the lunar lander from its protective cover. Coupled together, this unit traveled to the Moon and entered lunar orbit. After several orbits around the Moon, the lunar lander, with astronauts N. Armstrong and E. Aldrin on board, separated from the command capsule, where only astronaut M. Collins remained. The lunar lander initiated its descent to the Sea of Tranquility with two burns of its retro rocket. This historic event will remain unforgettable for eternity.
