In this new area of green technology, solar distillation plays an important role in converting brackish and saltwater into potable water. The energy crisis, driven by increased birth rates and decreased death rates, has led to high consumption and degradation of natural resources. In the future, the source of fresh water must be derived from the vast oceans and seas, which can be distilled using abundant solar technology to help future generations survive the demand for preserving freshwater resources. The vision of this project is to enhance the performance of the solar distillator by incorporating various designs of absorbing plates, such as flat plate models, trapezoidal ribbed models, and pin-fin models. In addition to these design considerations, various water depths, energy-storing materials, and the prediction of solar radiation falling on different days at Kamaraj College of Engineering & Technology with a 20-degree tilt angle of the distillation apparatus have been taken into account to improve the evaporation and condensation rates of the distillation apparatus through theoretical and experimental studies.
