The family of the peasant boy Trenk Tausendschlag serves the merciless knight and lord Wertolt. When one day his father is wrongfully thrown into the dungeon, Trenk sets out to become a knight. With the help of his friends Ferkelchen, Momme Mumm, Thekla, and Knight Hans, he embarks on a journey to participate in the prince's knight tournament. The winner of the tournament will lead the prince's army against the dragon that dwells in the forest. Therefore, Trenk must not only win the tournament but also defeat the dragon, as this will grant him a wish with which Trenk hopes to secure the freedom of his father and his family.
