Atlantic Ocean, 1912: On the maiden voyage of the Titanic the destitute Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) meets the beautiful but unfortunate first-class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet). Rose travels together with her mother and her snobby fiancé Cal (Billy Zane), whom she is supposed to marry for financial reasons, but does not love. When Jack watches Rose climb over the railing to plunge into the sea and avert her certain death, a love story begins for both of them that transcends class boundaries. Together with Jack, Rose discovers the exuberant life of the ordinary passengers below deck of the Titanic and the true nature of love. Meanwhile, the Titanic, considered unsinkable, is heading straight for an iceberg.
