When the periscope of a submarine drills into his small boat, Mücke (Bud Spencer) has to hang up his fishing job. Forced to do nothing, he spends his time in the bars. Only the brawls between the locals and a horde of stationed American GIs provide some variety.

However, the constant fights in the village get out of hand, prompting the Italian guys to propose a "friendly" football game to the GIs. Mücke becomes their coach and initially fights against the soldiers' dirty tricks with reluctance, but then puts in a lot of effort. The big match turns into a real battle, with Mücke's team unfortunately performing poorly—until he decides to intervene himself.
