As soon as young chefs press the lever down, the two toy toast slices are lowered into the toaster, and they just have to wait for them to pop up when they're done toasting. A mechanical sound is produced, just like a real toaster! However, even though the toy toaster closely resembles its real-life counterparts, neither the toaster nor the included toy bread gets hot or heated during use.
