Saoirse and her brother Ben live with their father Conor in an old lighthouse by the sea. Struggling to cope with the death of his wife, their father sends the children to the city, where they are to live with their grumpy grandmother. However, since Saoirse is a Selkie - a creature that is half seal and half human - her longing for the sea grows stronger, leading her and Ben to flee in search of their way back home. Along the way, they encounter three magical beings who are in desperate need of help, as Macha, the witch owl, intends to turn all creatures to stone. Can the melody of the sea help? And can Saoirse make the difficult decision of whether she wants to live as a human or as a Selkie from now on?.
