In 1999, the 911 GT3 inherited the water-cooled 6-cylinder boxer engine from the Le Mans-winning 911 GT1. With its acceleration capability of 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 302 km/h, the GT3 set a new record for production cars by completing the Nordschleife in only 7 minutes and 56 seconds.
